On April 3, Shanghai No. 1 IPC held a press conference on the working mechanism of summarizing the methods of adjudicating similar cases, briefed the public on the progress in exploring the construction of such mechanism, and published 10 summaries on the methods of ajudicating similar cases. Liu Li, Vice President of Shanghai No.1 IPC, and other officials attended the press conference at the press release center. Huang Xiangqing, President of Shanghai No.1 IPC, and Yang Li, Professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, interpreted the conference in the studio of Rule of Law Channel. Lv Hongbing, Vice President of the All China Lawyers Association, was interviewed by the media at the press conference. A video clip named Reform, Inheritance and Promotion was played at the press conference, which introduced the working mechanism of summarizing the methods of adjudicating similar cases. Vice President Liu Li briefed the overall situation of the mechanism from three aspects: value, operation mode and application mode. Judge Dong Lijie, who leads the summary of the methods of adjudicating similar cases in appeal court, shared how the summaries had come out and how they felt when writing down those summaries. Professor Yang Li said in the studio that the summary of the methods of adjudicating similar cases is of great guiding significance to the teaching of Applied Law in law schools and can further deepen the depth and breadth of Applied Law. President Huang Xiangqing said that Shanghai No.1 IPC has formulated the Three-year Plan for Summing up the Methods of Adjuicating Similar Cases, which covers 98 types of cases, such as criminal, civil, commercial, administrative and executive cases. The goal is that the summary of the methods of adjudicating similar cases shall cover the main types of cases in various business courts in three years. Lv Hongbing said that the summary of the method of adjudicating similar cases proposed by Shanghai No. 1 IPC is of great practical value and has a strong guiding significance for the lawyer industry. It can help lawyers and judges to reach an agreement on the understanding of the law, thereby making the law more predictable.
