On August 2, 2022, the People's Court of Shanghai Pudong New Area (hereinafter referred to as "Shanghai Pudong Court") held a press conference in Nanmatou Road Subdistrict to report on the marriage-related civil cases heard by Liuli Dispatched People's Tribunal in the past three years. Fu Yuming, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice President of Shanghai Pudong Court, gave a report on the relevant situation and distributed white papers to the representatives of the subdistricts and towns.

From January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2021, Liuli Dispatched People's Tribunal of Shanghai Pudong Court accepted a total of 1,929 marriage-related civil cases, accounting for 16.4% of the total number of cases accepted and including 8 ones involving personal safety protection orders. 59% of the marriage-related cases ended with withdrawal or mediation, manifesting the court¡¯s effective efforts to resolve confrontation between the parties and maintain family harmony.

In order to better safeguard people's family happiness, Liuli Dispatched People's Tribunal of Shanghai Pudong Court took several measures simultaneously to keep improving the working mechanisms and has achieved initial results.

A professional and efficient family trial team was built to fully protect the interests of minors, especially paying attention to maximizing their property rights and interests without prejudice to the right of disposition enjoyed by the owner of the property according to law. Meanwhile, a joint mediation platform for family disputes was established together with sub-district and town Party organizations in Tribunal¡¯s jurisdiction to settle the disputes locally, realizing targeted mediation of disputes, multi-tier resolution of contradictions and effective judicial connection. Besides, it established and improved the information sharing mechanism with subdistricts/towns and their legal aid stations to resolve contradictions at the grassroots level and prevent them from the source.

At the conference, 10 typical cases were released, involving hot issues such as minor upbringing and community property. During the trial, the court protected the personal, property and emotional benefits of family members concurrently and strove to meet the social expectations of the family and family members while realizing the justice in individual cases, which has achieved positive results.

At the meeting, the court also put forward opinions and suggestions on establishing rational values of marriage, love and family, building a complete protection chain for women's rights and interests, and actively exploring diversified dispute resolution mechanisms, etc. based on the trial practice.

The meeting was attended by some deputies to Pudong New Area People¡¯s Congress, persons in charge of political & legal affairs and heads of legal aid stations in Nanmatou Road Subdistrict, Tangqiao Subdistrict, Shanggang Xincun Subdistrict, Dongming Road Subdistrict, Zhoujiadu Subdistrict and Sanlin Town, "Legal Professional", "Leader in Rule of Law" and mediation representatives of the subdistricts/towns,  and some media journalists.
