Brief Introduction to the Court

Songjiang District People's Court of Shanghai was established on October 25, 1950. The trial court office building of the Court is now located at No. 701 Nanqing Road, Songjiang District. The Court has 355 personnel, and 93.03% of the registered permanent staff hold Bachelor's Degree or above, including 106 with Master's Degree, accounting for 36.93% of the total number of staff. By practicing the court motto of 'enforcing laws in a just way for the people with realistic, pragmatic and dedicated attitude', the Court works hard to provide judicial protection for the development of a new modern Songjiang that is favorable for both living and business.

Organizational Structure

Songjiang District People's Court now has 21 departments, including the Case Filing Tribunal, Litigation and Mediation Transition Center, Criminal Tribunal I, Criminal Tribunal II, Civil Tribunal I, Civil Tribunal II, Civil Tribunal III, Administrative Tribunal, four people's tribunals namely SiJing People's Court, Punan People's Court, Chedun People's Court, Sheshan People's Court, Enforcement Department, Enforcement Tribunal I, Enforcement Tribunal II, Executive Office, Political Affairs, Research Office, Discipline Inspection and Supervision Office, Trial Management Tribunal, and Bailiff Brigade.

Court Development

Songjiang District People's Court has jurisdiction over a region of 604 square kilometers and has accepted about 25,000 cases on average every year in recent years. Adhering to the working principle of 'enforcing laws in a just way for the people', the Court devotedly performed the duties and responsibilities granted by the Constitution and laws, took case handling as its top priority, promoted the performance of various tasks in an all-round way and worked hard to provide judicial protection for the development of Songjiang into a new modern District that is favorable for both living and business.

Honors

Songjiang District People's Court has been awarded with a number of honorary titles such as the 'Outstanding Youth Rights Protection Post”, the ' National Model Post in Protecting Rights of the Elderly', the 'National Model Collective in Protecting Children and Women's Rights and Interests', the 'Shanghai Model Unit', the 'Shanghai Learning-oriented Organization', the 'Shanghai Model Unit in Judicial Publicity', and the Second and Third Class Merit Citation to Collectives for many times.  The Court has cultivated a number of model collectives and individuals: Sijing Tribunal was awarded with the 'National Excellent People's Court', the 'National Model Women Post', and the 'National Model Court Collective in Guiding People's Mediation'; the Enforcement Department was awarded with the 'National Model Collective in Enforcement Work'; two individuals were awarded with the 'National Model Individual in Guiding People's Mediation', and the 'Award for Outstanding Contribution to Protection of Children and Women's Rights and Interests' respectively; and many personnel won Second and Third Class Merit Citation to Individuals for many times.
