[2025-04-10]

On April 8, 2025, the Yangpu District People's Court held its first intellectual property (IP) circuit trial ¡°Into the Park¡± event at Changyang Campus, marking the eighth session in its ongoing circuit trial series. By conducting a court hearing on a computer software development contract dispute, the Court delivered a vivid ¡°rule-of-law lesson¡± to enterprises within the tech park, promoting legal awareness through real cases.

Over 30 attendees¡ªincluding deputies to the Yangpu District People's Congress and representatives from enterprises based in Knowledge and Innovation Community and Tongji Science and Technology Park, along with members of the media¡ªobserved the hearing.

During the hearing, the presiding judge heard arguments from both parties and identified the core issues in dispute. The central question in this case was whether the software delivered by the defendant met the contractual acceptance criteria. Under the guidance of the court, both parties presented their respective views on key matters such as specific development requirements, delivery timeline, quality standards, and payment conditions under the contract.

Following the trial, the Yangpu District People's Court distributed its public legal education booklet Intellectual Property in Everyday Life to attendees. The presiding judge also led an interactive session titled ¡°Decoding Software Contracts: Safeguarding the Path of Innovation¡±, during which they explained the legal principles and judicial approach to handling software development contract disputes, and provided detailed answers to questions raised by enterprise representatives.

Looking ahead, the Yangpu District People's Court will continue to strengthen communication with tech parks and further diversify its outreach efforts through circuit trials, legal seminars, and other initiatives. These efforts aim to support the healthy and stable development of enterprises and foster a sound legal environment for the advancement of new productive forces.
