President Jia Yu Meets with Dr. Henry C. Lee

On the morning of June 9, Dr. Henry C. Lee, the Tenure Professor at the University of New Haven in the United States, former Commissioner of the Connecticut State Police, and Founder of the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science, paid a visit to the Shanghai High People's Court (SHPC). Jia Yu, the President of the SHPC, engaged in a discussion with Dr. Henry C. Lee; Lu Weimin, the Vice President of the SHPC, along with the heads of relevant department, also attended the discussion.

Jia Yu extended a heartfelt welcome to Henry C. Lee and shared insights into the numerous innovative endeavors undertaken by Shanghai courts in recent years, all centered on the theme of "justice and efficiency." He further engaged in an exchange with Henry C. Lee regarding key priorities, including the future trajectory of digital courts and the propagation of experiences through university-court collaborations. He looked forward to contributing more "Shanghai wisdom" to advancing the high-quality development of judicial work in the digital era through more exchanges and active explorations. Henry C. Lee expressed that the explorations made by Shanghai courts in areas such as digital court construction, foreign-related legal construction, and university-court collaboration were very meaningful. From a global perspective across various industries, Shanghai's digital court construction has achieved remarkable results and yielded fruitful outcomes. He hoped that the experiences of the Shanghai courts could be widely shared, thereby allowing the fruits of digital court advancements to better serve the people, permeate the educational sphere, and integrate into society. He expected Shanghai courts would deepen digital reforms with a broader vision, break down data barriers, protect network security, bridge the "digital divide," and enable digital empowerment to benefit more people.

During this visit, Henry C. Lee focused on listening to introductions about the judicial work of Shanghai courts, the construction of Shanghai's digital courts, and university-court collaboration. He watched a special program on foreign-related justice in Shanghai courts and engaged in exchanges on aspects such as cutting-edge international forensic technologies, exploring AI-assisted case handling, and better achieving the unity of judicial justice and efficiency.
