The 31st National Maritime Trial Seminar Was Held at the Shanghai Maritime Court

On November 19, the 31st National Maritime Trial Seminar was held at the Shanghai Maritime Court. Shen Hongyu, Chief Judge of the Fourth Civil Division of the Supreme People's Court; Zhang Lei, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee; and Cao Jie, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice President of the Shanghai High People's Court, attended the event and delivered speeches. Wang Tong, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and President of the Shanghai Maritime Court, presided over the opening ceremony. Responsible officials from relevant departments of the Supreme People's Court, presidents of the 11 maritime courts nationwide, experts, scholars, and representatives of award-winning authors participated in the event.

The leaders presented awards to the representatives of the winning papers' authors. During the seminar session, participants engaged in thematic discussions on three topics: "Modernization of the Maritime Adjudication System and Professionalization of Judicial Capacity", "Issues Concerning the Implementation of the Maritime Code of the People's Republic of China and Amendments to the Maritime Procedure Law of the People's Republic of China", and "Judicial Research on Emerging Areas in Marine Economic Development".

During the seminar, the Supreme People's Court also convened the National Symposium of Presidents of Maritime Courts.
