On the afternoon of December 3, the new book launch for Small Cases, Big Principles¡ªthe Rule of Law Nurtures the Hearts" was held at the East Branch of the Shanghai Library. Wang Liqiu, Member of the Leading Party Members' Group and Director of the Political Department of the Shanghai High People's Court, and Qian Min, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Shanghai People's Publishing House, attended the event and delivered speeches, and jointly unveiled the new book, Small Cases, Big Principles. Some deputies to the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress and members of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, as well as representatives from the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPC and the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Justice, businesses, media, readers, and judges and court personnel, attended the event, totaling over 80 people.

In her speech, Director Wang Liqiu stated that over the three years since the launch of the "Small Cases, Big Principles" column, nearly 200 cases have been released. On this occasion, 52 selected cases have been compiled into a book, which is not only a presentation of achievements in deepening judicial transparency and expanding the effect of adjudication, but also a solemn commitment to upholding justice for the people and contributing to the construction of a rule-of-law society. Looking ahead, Shanghai courts will continue to draw inspiration from real-life judicial practices, delve deeper into daily life to uncover more "small cases," and clearly elucidate the "big principles" underlying the rule of law. It is hoped that Small Cases, Big Principles will find its way into countless households and become a window through which readers can understand the law and develop trust in the rule of law. It is anticipated that these "small cases" will conceive more people that the law is not distant, and that fairness and justice are right beside each and every one of us.

During the event, Chen Kai, host of Legal Perspectives on the Global Landscape of Shanghai People's Broadcast Radio, Chen Qing'an, Research Fellow at the Institute of Law, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences; Dong Tingting, Deputy Chief Judge of the Criminal Division of the Putuo District People's Court; and Yan Li, Deputy Chief Judge of the Sheshan People's Tribunal of the Songjiang District People's Court, engaged in a roundtable dialogue, centering on the "small cases" in the book and conducting in-depth analysis of the "big principles" behind them.
