A Profile of the Juvenile Tribunal of Shanghai No.2 Intermediate People's Court
The Juvenile Comprehensive Tribunal of Shanghai No.2 Intermediate People’s Court, established in September 2010, consists of six judges, one law clerk, and two clerks at present, two of which are psychological counselors of the state second class. The Juvenile Tribunal hears the criminal, civil, and administrative cases of minors of the first and final instances within its jurisdiction where the same tribunal is established in four districts, i.e. Jing’an, Putuo, Baoshan, and Hongkou. Since its establishment, the Juvenile Tribunal, with building and perfection of the system of juvenile trial of the Chinese characteristics as its working objective, has vigorously been engaged in the criminal trial of minors to educate and save the delinquent minors. Furthermore, it has attached importance to protection of the legitimate rights and interests of the minors in terms of person, property, and education. Finally, the tribunal has, in combination of the characteristics of the time, innovated the trial stretching to form a working mechanism of publicity and education of the legal system for minors, featuring the brand of “Nourishing the Youth by the Law”.
